PointwithMe Smart Programme

PointwithMe Smart Programme hero image

PointwithMe Smart Programme (PontVelem Okos Program) is a nationwide initiative in Hungary designed to foster entrepreneurship competence among primary school students through a unique blend of environmental awareness, financial literacy, and social responsibility. By integrating playful, practical activities and a point-based reward system, the programme encourages students to develop essential entrepreneurial skills such as resource management, initiative, teamwork, and value creation.

Key Activities and Student Experience

Central to the programme are three main pillars: selective waste collection (Collectwith Me, GyűjtsVelem), charitable engagement (HelpwithMe, SegítsVelem), and interactive learning through games and quizzes (PlaywithMe, JátsszVelem). Students collect used batteries, small accumulators, and mobile phones, earning points for their efforts. These points can be redeemed for tangible rewards, experiences, or donated to charitable causes, reinforcing the concept of creating and sharing value. Students can keep track of their points in PointBank through their PointsAccount, which is like a real bank account in a real bank. The programme’s online platform offers continuous access to educational games and quizzes, further motivating students to participate actively throughout the school year. Annual collection competitions and regular online challenges add a layer of excitement and healthy competition, making learning engaging and memorable.

Program Features and Pedagogical Principles

The programme is based on experiential learning and gamification. By linking everyday actions such as recycling and participating in online games to point accumulation and rewards, the programme transforms abstract entrepreneurial concepts into tangible experiences. The integration of charitable giving, in partnership with organisations like the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service, instils a sense of social responsibility and ethical entrepreneurship. The programme also encourages collaboration, as students often work together within their classes or schools to achieve collective goals, fostering teamwork and communication skills. Teachers play a crucial role as facilitators, guiding students through activities and helping them reflect on their experiences, while parents are engaged as supporters, extending the programme’s impact beyond the classroom.

Methodology and Structure The programme is characterised by a practical, action-oriented approach. Students are not passive recipients of knowledge; instead, they actively engage in real-world tasks that mirror entrepreneurial processes: identifying opportunities (waste collection), mobilising resources (organising collections and campaigns), managing rewards (point systems), and making decisions about value distribution (choosing between personal rewards or charitable donations). The structure is flexible and inclusive - schools can join at any time, and participation is open to all students. The programme’s online infrastructure ensures accessibility and scalability, while regular feedback and recognition sustain long-term engagement.
